Calculate the arithmetic mean of your grades, scores or other numbers.
Enter the sum of your values and how many values there are.
About this tool
Useful for calculating an arithmetic mean when you already have the total and count.
How to use
For individual grades, add the scores first and divide by the number of scores when each score has equal weight.
Average Calculator guide
Calculate the arithmetic mean of your grades, scores or other numbers. Use the result as an educational estimate and check your school's grading or policy rules when they differ.
The arithmetic average is found by adding the values and dividing the total by the number of values. It works well when each observation should have equal weight. Enter the values you want to compare and review the resulting mean.
Values of 10, 20 and 30 have a total of 60 across three observations, so the average is 20. A very large or very small value can pull the average toward itself, which matters when interpreting the result.
For datasets with extreme values, compare the mean with the median or other summary measures to get a fuller picture.
