How the final grade is calculated
This calculator estimates the final course grade you need based on your current grade, the portion of the course already completed, and the target grade you want to finish with. Enter the values carefully and keep the weights in the same scale, such as percentages.
The basic calculation treats the completed and remaining parts as weighted averages. For example, if your current grade is 82% and 70% of the course is complete, the remaining 30% has a much larger effect than a small assignment earlier in the term. The calculator shows the required result for the remaining work rather than assuming that every assignment has equal weight.
How to use the calculator
Enter your current grade, the completed course weight, and your desired final grade. Check your syllabus before using the result because schools may use different grading rules, extra credit, dropped assignments, or category weights. If the required remaining grade is above 100%, the target is not mathematically reachable under the entered assumptions.
Practical example
If you have 84% after completing 75% of a course and want an 88% final grade, the remaining 25% must lift the weighted average to 88%. Use the result as a planning target for exams and assignments, not as a guarantee of a final letter grade.
FAQ
Can I use letter grades? Convert them to the percentage or GPA scale required by your school. What if my course has categories? Calculate each category according to the syllabus weights first.
