How hourly pay becomes an annual estimate

This calculator converts an hourly wage into an estimated annual gross salary using the hours worked per week and the number of working weeks per year. A common full-time assumption is 40 hours per week and 52 weeks, but your actual schedule may include unpaid leave, holidays, overtime or part-time weeks.

The result is gross pay before income tax, payroll deductions, insurance, retirement contributions and other withholdings. If overtime or bonuses are part of your compensation, calculate those separately unless the calculator provides an input for them.

Example

At $25 per hour, working 40 hours per week for 52 weeks gives a gross annual estimate of $52,000. If you work fewer paid weeks, the annual amount will be lower even though the hourly rate is unchanged.

Useful comparison

When comparing job offers, look beyond the hourly rate. Paid leave, employer benefits, overtime rules, bonuses and retirement contributions can materially change total compensation.
