Required Grade Calculator Guide
The Required Grade Calculator helps students estimate the score they need on a remaining assignment or exam to reach a target course average. It is useful when some grades are already known and one or more assessments remain.
How the calculation works
The calculator uses the current average, the completed portion of the course, the remaining assessment weight, and the target average. For a simple weighted model, the required score is based on the difference between the target and the contribution already earned.
Example
If completed work contributes 70% of the course and your current average is 82%, the completed contribution is 57.4 percentage points. If the target is 85%, the remaining 30% must contribute 27.6 points, requiring about 92% on the remaining work.
Check your syllabus before relying on the result because some courses use dropped grades, category weights, extra credit, or non-linear grading rules.
